ABOUT
Pablo Henninger (b. 2000) is a photographer and director based in the Netherlands whose work explores emotion through cinematic image-making. Rather than approaching image as documentation, he uses photography and film as a way to translate his internal landscape into visual form.
His practice began at eighteen after inheriting his grandfather’s analogue camera and traveling to Indonesia to reconnect with his family roots. Immersed in unfamiliar cultural and religious environments, he developed a sensitivity to atmosphere, identity, and emotional presence: elements that continue to shape his visual language today.
Working across fashion, culture, sport, and music, Henninger positions himself as a conceptual artist, creating images that function as emotional environments rather than records of reality. His process is rooted in creating conditions where people can exist naturally within the frame. By placing subjects in their own strength rather than directing performance onto them, he allows emotion and presence to emerge organically, creating work that feels both intimate and cinematic.
Defined by deep contrast, texture, and painterly tones, his imagery exists between reality and fiction. Influenced by lived experience, observation, cinema and cultural environments, his work is guided by intuition, curiosity and emotional honesty. He believes his strongest work emerges when he is able to feel deeply and see that emotion reflected back through the image.
His work has been presented internationally through fashion, film, and cultural projects, including Amsterdam Fashion Week, Amsterdam Dance Event, Paris Fashion Week, and collaborations with District Vision and Comme des Garçons. In 2026, his work was exhibited in Milan during the Winter Olympic Games, reflecting the continued expansion of his practice across photography, film, and contemporary visual culture.
