SELENE

Selene explores the relational dynamics between light and darkness, individuality and collectivity, silence and strength. The work reflects on emotional and collective renewal, using cyclical movement as a guiding motif within Henninger’s broader artistic practice.

The composition depicts eight female figures arranged in a circle, individually distinct yet visually unified. Their white garments cut through the surrounding darkness, creating a sense of autonomous radiance: a collective carrying its own light into the night.

Captured from a cinematic aerial perspective, the image moves between the ritualistic and the intimate, merging archetypal structures with human vulnerability. Through calibrated contrasts of tone, temperature, and texture, Henninger translates internal states into visual form. Selene ultimately becomes an allegory of transformation and resilience, where continuity, shared energy, and emotion generate light even in moments of darkness.

The work was selected for the Olympic Art exposition in Milan during the 2026 Winter Olympics Milan-Cortina in February 2026.
